Surgical Procedures

Surgical excision is the most common treatment for removing skin cancers.  

Most skin cancers are removed with a simple elliptical excision that is then sutured closed. 

Sometimes techniques like flaps and skin grafts may be used to reconstruct the area after cancer removal, particularly for lesions located on cosmetically sensitive areas, on difficult areas like the nose and ears or with extensive tissue involvement.
